Pizzaiolo's Create Your Own Pizza Experience

★★★★ 4.2 / 5 By GTA Slice Team · March 22, 2026
Pizza being prepared

Pizzaiolo has carved out a serious reputation in the Toronto pizza scene, and their "Create Your Own" option is one of the reasons why. We visited the Danforth location on a busy Friday night and went through their full customization flow — choosing dough type, sauce, cheese blend, and up to eight toppings — to see if the experience justifies the slightly premium price point.

Starting with the dough, Pizzaiolo offers three base options: classic hand-tossed, thin crust, and a multigrain option that's relatively new. We went with thin crust, which arrived crispy without being cracker-dry, a difficult balance that many chains get wrong. The San Marzano-style sauce had a bright acidity and wasn't oversweetened, which immediately set it apart from the typical delivery experience. We loaded up with roasted garlic, caramelized onions, hot soppressata, arugula, and a four-cheese blend.

The result was genuinely impressive. The toppings were distributed evenly — a detail that sounds trivial until you've received one too many pizzas where everything slides to one side. The cheese pull was excellent, and the soppressata had a real kick. At $18.99 for a large custom pie before tax and delivery, it's not the cheapest option in the GTA, but the quality-to-price ratio is competitive, especially compared to premium chains like Blaze or Pi Co.

Where Pizzaiolo loses a point is delivery time. Our order took 58 minutes on a Friday, which is on the longer end. The pizza arrived warm but not piping hot, and the thin crust had softened slightly in the box. For dine-in or pickup, this would easily be a 4.5. But since we're reviewing the delivery experience specifically, we're landing at a strong 4.2. Highly recommended — just plan ahead if you're ordering for a group.

Taste Test

Taste-Testing the 2 Pizzas, 2 Drinks, 2 Dips Special

★★★★ 4.5 / 5 By GTA Slice Team · February 28, 2026
Pizza party spread

The "2-2-2" bundle — two medium pizzas, two drinks, and two dipping sauces — has become one of the most popular delivery specials across the GTA. Multiple chains run variations of it, and the pricing typically ranges from $24.99 to $29.99. We ordered the bundle from three different sources in the same week to see who does it best and whether the deal is actually saving you money compared to ordering items individually.

First up was a national chain's version at $26.99. The pizzas were standard fare — decent pepperoni, acceptable cheese — but the real value was in the bundle arithmetic. Ordering the same items à la carte would have cost $38.47, making the bundle a genuine 30% savings. The dipping sauces (garlic and marinara) were solid, and the two cans of pop rounded things out. Nothing spectacular, but honest value.

The surprise winner came from a regional chain operating across Scarborough and Markham. Their $24.99 version included two large pizzas instead of mediums, which is a significant upgrade. The crust had a satisfying chew, the sauce was well-seasoned, and the toppings were generous. The creamy garlic dip was the best of the three we tested. For a group of three to four people, this is probably the best overall pizza delivery deal in the eastern GTA right now.

The third version, from a well-known Toronto franchise, charged $29.99 and didn't justify the premium. The pizzas were fine but not noticeably better, and the drinks were smaller bottles rather than cans. The dips were pre-packaged and tasted like it. At that price, you're better off going with one of the cheaper options and putting the savings toward a side or dessert. Overall, the 2-2-2 concept is a genuine winner for group orders — just shop around.
